Benjamin Koppel


A busy and versatile saxophone player, who formed his first band at the age of 15 and has released more than 30 CDs in his own name as well as performing on more than 100 others. 

Benjamin Koppel performs with both small groups, larger ensembles and internationally acclaimed artists, symphony orchestras, sinfoniettas, and other classical ensembles as well as pop/rock-groups and with DJs.


The 36 year old saxophone player, who is the most award-winning Danish musician of his generation, is known for his versatility and breathtaking virtuosity. As a soloist/leader he has played with top musicians like Daniel Humair, Palle Danielsson, Alex Riel and his father Anders Koppel, royal operasinger Inger Dam Jensen, Adam Nussbaum, Randy Brecker, Chano Dominguez, Phil Woods, Charlie Mariano, Portinho, David Sanchez, Sheryl Crow, Larry Goldings, Bill Stewart, Lew Soloff, Kenny Werner and many others. As well as top names of Danish music, Hanne Boel, Sanne Salomonsen, Moonjam, Danseorkestret, D*A*D*, all the major symphony orchestras, and many, many more.


In 2001 Benjamin Koppel formed his own independent record label, Cowbell Music that releases high quality jazz music as well as classical, cross over and pop music. Furthermore Cowbell Music bookes concerts for some of the affiliated artists.
